A Thoroughfare Of Colour

Image
I don’t know what root of hemlock convinced me to take up the tedious expedition of accompanying my family to an evening at the local fairground. Clearly a psychological outcast, my mood for the evening sharply contrasted with that of my party, who personified cheery enthusiasm. The Sun was busy gearing up for its advent in the West, bidding my horizon an unceremonious farewell. The monsoon seemed to have forgotten how to let go of the restraints and was letting out a disappointed sigh, breathing in the atmosphere and exhaling a mist of sultry humidity that made your skin tearful. Or so thought my contemplative mind. I walk down. The liquor store seemed to be exceptionally busy. People. Disillusioned people. Those who wished to drown their exasperation in a draught of liquid intoxication. I walk down the road which bears a freedom fighter’s name glued to it, and yet takes pride in being referred to as a janitor’s delight. Or may be a platoon of janitors. I walk down. The aro...

Sparks: Without them, one is dead.

Image
So, what are exactly sparks? They are the original electrons in you that motivate you to do something good. You gain sparks in a lot of ways, and similarly you lose it, too. Sparks give energy to your life. The more you have, the better it is. The first and the foremost way to gain sparks is  utilization of time . Let me give you a good example of this. Imagine a bank which, everyday, adds up $86,400 to your bank account. You may draw as much as you want till the limit of $86,400. Every night, the bank burns up the cash that you have not used or drawn. And you just can't claim it back, no matter how much you plead. This is time, friends. God has offered us 86,400 seconds to us, everyday. We must utilise every bit of it- because time lost is time lost. We can't take it back even if we want. And the proverb goes correct- "Time and Tide waits for none" The second way is to be happy , always, no matter what happens. A positive smile is all- it gives you...

Enough of IIT's: Let's speak about the system!

Image
Find us on Google+ Okay guys. Yes, it was true, I made much fuss about IIT's: Let's speak of the education system in India. Here I refer to the English medium schools, I really don't have a knowledge about all those regional schools. Basically as per my experience I have been working with the Wikimedia Foundation, a regional director for planning. Henceforth, my job is to visit schools, learn about them, and make then understand how to harness the power of the Internet. I have seen schools- small or giant size-and noticed a point: All the schools have more or less the same syllabus (ICSE or CBSE, not the regional ones, again) but the main difference- the categories of exams, or too frequent exams. Let me tell you what I try to mean. Too many exams create a lot of pressure on the Indian students, perhaps the most in the world. However, though many pass, some fails. But they don't understand the failing in a subject is not all. They may fail to achieve a good rank i...
