The Ebola Outbreak, the largest in the history, has taken the world by storm. It has taken a severe toll on human life- more than a thousand people have died during recent months. The Ebola virus existed before as well; it claimed lives then. After researching, I found a
link of the World Health Organisation statement that shows the record for the first known case of Ebola- an unidentified man from Yambaku, Africa in the year of 1976. Fast forward to today and the case is out of control.

What is the prime reason for this situation reaching such heights? Why was it not controlled properly? The answer is very simple. The affected nations, namely Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone are economically weak. They cannot afford world-class healthcare personnel; nor do they have the required medical expertise. That is why it went undetected for so long. We know that anonymous cases of Ebola had been reported till March 2014- but when it spread beyond the borders to Sierra Leone and adjoining nations, it was declared as an outbreak. Sheer negligence and lack of facilities can be assigned the chief reason.
Governments of various countries have now taken necessary steps to ensure that Ebola does not enter their respective lands. Most countries have closed their borders to affected nations; flights have been suspended from those places. India has also taken similar measures. But that is only superficial! 47,000 Indians still remain in there and the Indian Government bats a blind eye. Is is so because they don't know of it? Certainly not.

What this "shut your borders" theory is doing is, it is literally stating to the other nations that you keep the virus to yourself, let
your people die. This mentality has to go. Canada, China, United States and the European Union, all have donated huge sums of money. But is there anyone from India who has sent medical representatives? Has India issued any statement to help those 47,000 of its nationals? Nothing as of yet. Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has merely stated that airports have been placed at high alert all over the country, and that special forms will be issued to anyone travelling from nations struck by the tragedy.
My sincere prayers are with the families of those affected by the deadly virus. I hope the crisis ends as soon as it can and let chaos end.
